Here is an update on our boy. He has been able to wear his first fall clothing this weekend because it has been so cool here! Also as you can see by the video, he is a fast little army crawler! Gets that from his Dad I guess.

Weekend in East Texas...

Victoria was concerned about how hard the floor was, so she made him a palate! Gavin didn't really spend much time on it.

He also had his first taste of bread this weekend. I think he really enjoyed it! (He didn't really eat the bread but played with it)

He weighed 5 pound, 8 ounces. He was 17 inches long.

Wednesday...

Nothing new to report just a lazy Wednesday here in Casa de Walker. Gavin is napping, and I cannot. So here I am.

Gavin is 4 and half months old and we finally just seemed to get into a good groove. We wake up between 7 and 8 in morning, play for a bit and then Gavin naps between 10 and 2 (not the entire 4 hours, just sometime in those 4 hours, Gavin takes a short nap). Then we wake up again and play a little more. Around 5:30 Javin gets home and we have dinner and he gets to hang out with Gavin until bed time around 8.

It may sound easy, but no one tells you! As I sit here thinking, I have compiled a list of things parents don't tell you:

• Baby boys can pee over their head, and rather quickly to boot!
• Babies do NOT come sleeping through the night.
• How incredibly tired you will be.
• How much sleep you will lose checking on your child once they do start sleeping through night.
• How hard it is to do things with one hand.
• That you will never eat a hot meal again. Much less at the same time as your husband.

They also never tell you:

• How you can love a little being so much (even though they pee and spit up all over you).
• How gas bubbles that make your newborn smile can make your day.
• How the sound of your babies voice will make your heart melt.
• How everyday you learn something new about your little one and yourself.

With all the things parents don't tell us expectant parents, who cares. How could you not melt over that sweet face? Just some things Javin and I have been talking about lately.

Gavin's Western Wear...

We finally finished Gavin's room this weekend (with the help of my mother!).

She painted these AWESOME Texas themed pictures.

and yes, I even learned to sew. Straight lines of course.

Here are the paintings hanging on the wall.

His brand new curtains (that I sewed).

We added some bandanas and a leather rug to his bed.

His shelves filled up quickly with all the sweet gifts we have been given.

Javin took Gavin for his first fishing trip today. He is really enjoying it huh?

A year in the life...

On April 27th, 2011 I wrote our first blog. It included pictures of  "Moving Day". Just a reminder, our profile also read like this:

As college days ended, I married my longtime friend, now an Army Lieutenant.  As military life goes, we were separated right off with him in the army in one state and me completing my school in another.   We are headed off for a lifetime of memories beginning in our first duty station of Vilseck, Germany.  These are the first days of our lives together.  As newlyweds, we have no pets, no children, no "junk".  Follow along as we reunite and begin to accumulate memories in our adventures.  We can't wait...

One year later, our profile reads like this:

Still newlyweds, but what a difference a year makes. We are back from Germany and living in Texas with one more in tow. We now have a child, junk and a dog! We are still excited with the journey life is giving us and still curious to see what the next days will bring. Join us on our journey!

Javin's dad also pointed out that last year I told about Javin dropping HIS car off. This year I told about pick up OUR car!

Gavins First Night...

Gavin spent his first night in his own room. He went to sleep around 8:30 pm and didn't wake up until around 3 am. After a quick feeding he went straight back to sleep until around 7 am this morning. He slept really well and didn't seem effected by not being in our room. I cannot say the same for Mommy.

Happy Easter All...

We celebrated Gavin's first Easter this weekend. The Easter bunny brought Gavin this little basket with all these goodies. He got a new teething ring, a baseball hat, a book, his first toothbrush and all of mommy and daddy's favorite candies. How convenient!

After church we went out back and had our pictures taken in the Texas Bluebonnets. Can't pass up an opportunity for this!
